Seoul, Korea, May 13, 2025 — Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) is set to electrify the streets of Tokyo with its advanced GEN3 Evo iON Race tires as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship (hereafter Formula E) returns for a high-octane double-header. Hankook serves as the exclusive tire supplier and official technical partner for Formula E.

Following a spectacular debut in 2024, the 2025 Tokyo E-Prix promises even greater excitement and intensity, with two days of racing on May 17 and 18. Twenty-two drivers will push the limits of performance on the tight, technical 18-turn Tokyo Street Circuit—set against the vibrant backdrop of Tokyo Big Sight.

The 2.582 km Tokyo Street Circuit winds through the dynamic Ariake district, surrounding the iconic Tokyo Big Sight convention centre. The track presents a complex mix of three high-speed straights, tight corners, and technical combinations—demanding precision, grip, and tire consistency at every turn.

Engineered exclusively for Formula E’s GEN3 race cars, Hankook’s GEN3 Evo iON Race tire is built to perform under the extreme demands of city racing. Its enhanced construction and advanced rubber compounds deliver optimal grip, energy efficiency, and durability—key to navigating Tokyo’s fast directional changes and heavy braking zones across both race days.

In line with Formula E’s sustainability goals, the GEN3 Evo iON Race tire is designed with a focus on circularity and responsible material use. 35% of the tire is made from sustainable materials, including bio-based natural rubber and recycled PET fibers. Each tire is engineered for extended durability and consistent performance across a full race weekend, reducing the need for additional tire sets. Post-race, all used tires are collected and processed through Hankook’s certified recycling program, ensuring minimal environmental impact throughout the tire’s life cycle.

“The GEN3 Evo iON Race tire delivers uncompromising performance while incorporating sustainable materials and design, proving that high-level motorsport and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand,” said Maximilian Günther, driver for DS PENSKE and winner of the 2024 Tokyo E-Prix.

As the official tire supplier of Formula E, Hankook continues to push the boundaries of innovation in electric racing. With the GEN3 Evo iON Race tire, the company brings cutting-edge performance and advanced sustainability to the heart of Tokyo. Set in the heart of the capital, the 2025 Tokyo E-Prix is set to deliver a thrilling showcase of precision, endurance, and electric mobility—powered by Hankook.
